“Flu-O-Less-Sense” is a performance by vanguard Thai physical theatre company, B-Floor Theatre. The title “Flu-O-Less-Sense” is a Thai-style pun of the English word “fluorescent,” that man-made light invented to eliminate darkness.
“Flu-O-Less-Sense” is presented in collage style, and was created based on interpretations of each individual word in the title. On the surface, the words do not seem to have any meaning or connection. Or do they?
As each scene transforms giddily into the next, the movement, images and objects begin to strangely reflect the current situation in Thailand. Is the repeated violence in Thai society a contagious flu that has been plaguing the country since 1976? Do all the conflicts, in the end, bear no meaning in the eyes of those who try to look at them?
Maybe Thailand needs not only fluorescent lights to brighten the night, but also, and more urgently, the light of truth – even from the tiniest flame of a candle.
